Eva Tisdale began her career playing piano and organ in silent films system and she continued to teach band in private schools. After retirement she was still active in music. She has had newspaper articles written about her, her achievements and contributions in music. Additionally, she has been nominated for Outstanding Leadership Awards in Elementary and Secondary Education. From 1921 until 1925, she opened her own school of music, The Tisdale School of Music in New Orleans, LA. She graduated from college in 1941 after her husbands death in 1939. She was hired in New Orleans as a public school band director, and entered her bands in the LMEA (Louisiana Music Educators Association) Contest Festivals and won Superior Ratings. She also directed the All City Bands.
